Frequently Asked Questions

  • How Does Airbrush Spray Tanning work?

The active ingredient in all spray tan solution is dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a colorless sugar that darkens the skin through staining. DHA reacts with the amino acids (keratin proteins) in the outermost layer of your skin. As these dead skin cells naturally wear off, the color gradually fades, just like a genuine sun tan. The solution I use also includes a bronzer which allows me to see where the solution has been placed and make sure that you are covered evenly. This bronzer will rinse off when you shower.

  • How Long Does The Airbrush Spray Tanning Process Take?

Your first appointment will be about 20-30 minutes.  I like to sit down and explain the details of the product and what to expect afterwards so there are no surprises. After your first appointment, 15 minutes is more than enough time.

  • How Long Does The Spray Tan Last?

Your airbrush spray tan will last between 5-7 days depending on how you prep and care for your skin afterwards. It is highly recommended that you moisturize every day to extend the duration of your tan. If you exfoliate really well before your spray tan as well as moisturize really well after your spray tan, your tan will last longer. Taking long hot baths or showers, prolonged exposure to chlorine, and waxing or shaving, will speed up the exfoliation process and shorten the life of your spray tan

  • Will my tan look orange or streaky?

If you have followed the prep instructions, you will not have a streaky tan. There is nothing uglier than an uneven orange tan! Orange tans are forbidden at 24K glow. My high quality customized blends will never turn you orange.

  • What solution does 24 Karat Glow use?

I use  a variety of customized blends that look good on all skin tones. Orange tans are not allowed at 24 karat glow.  The customized blends do not have the typical funky chemical spray tan smell. This is one of my biggest compliments from clients . ” I love that I didn’t smell like a spray tan usually makes you smell”. I believe in only using the highest quality solution and have hand picked and researched every blend.

  • What do I wear TO my appointment?

***LOSE DARK CLOTHING ONLY** Do not wear jeans, yoga pants, long sleeves or anything that will be snug on your skin. The best articles of clothing to wear are: Maxi dress, lose sun dress, kaftan, cover ups, lose tank tops. It is also highly recommended to not wear a bra after your session, Please bring flip flops and a bath towel to lay down on top of your car seat for the drive home.

  • Is Airbrush Spray Tanning Safe?

The active ingredient, DHA (dihydroxyacetone), was approved by the FDA in 1973. DHA is derived from raw sugar cane and is the only active ingredient approved by the FDA for sunless spray tanning products. DHA has been used safely over the years in numerous sunless spray tanning products, such as creams and lotions.
